With developing a set of materials (6 books, 11 audiocassettes, 12 computer programs) for an intensive course of oral everyday and business communication in English and introducing this course into teaching practice, carried out the theoretical and experimental study of intensive teaching of English (General and Business English) to Ukrainian (Russian)-speaking adult learners. This research was being carried out during all the indicated time both in Ukraine and in the USA during participation in the Fulbright program.

1980-1992

Carried out theoretical and experimental studies on the issue of optimization of teaching foreign languages to tertiary level students at technical educational institutions. The research was completed with successfully defending in 1992 the dissertation for a doctoral degree at Moscow State University (the title of the dissertation: "The Fundamentals of Foreign Language Teaching Optimization at the Tertiary Level Non-Linguistic Educational Institutions").

1973-1979

Carried out theoretical and experimental research on intensifying vocabulary acquisition by adult students of English for Specific Purposes learning it as a foreign language at tertiary level non-linguistic educational institutions. The 7 year long theoretical and experimental research resulted in defending in 1979 a Kandydat degree dissertation at Moscow State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (the title of the dissertation: "Intensification of Teaching English Vocabulary at Tertiary Level Non-Linguistic Educational Institutions").

Publications

262 publications on research results: 24 books (eleven of them coursebooks and textbooks, two chapters in two books by a group of authors, one encyclopedia chapter), 72 abstracts of papers read at conferences, 166 articles in professional journals, books, and collections – with twenty articles, one book, two chapters in two books by a group of authors, and one encyclopedia chapter published in the USA, twenty articles in the UK, one in France, two in Spain, one in Canada, two in China, one in the Czech Republic, and one in Israel. Seventy eight publications are in English, one in French, all the others in Russian and Ukrainian.

154 presentations made at 149 professional conferences, seminars, and symposia (where I participated as a speaker) held in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, the USA, Great Britain, France, Spain, Poland, Finland, Switzerland, Greece, the Netherlands, Austria, Monaco, the Czech Republic, Germany, and China. Forty six presentations were made in English, one in French, all the others in Russian and Ukrainian.
