Declaration of Unity of Students on the occasion of the launch of the Day of Unity and appeal to the UN
Last year, the Declaration of Student Unity was adopted on the occasion of the launch of the Unity Day, and this year, students adopted an Appeal to the United Nations, which reflected common values, hopes and determination to change the world for the better, paying special attention to the potential of modern higher education and the opportunities it opens up for those who are looking for ways to build a better world.
Aware of the special role of young people in the fate of humanity, the students called on students to unite, cooperate, and share their thoughts and experiences. Education is a reliable foundation for future changes.
We hope that the initiative to launch the International Students’ Day of Unity on the first Thursday of October each year will certainly find support at the UN.

Pomegranate is a new symbol of the Day of Unity
This year, the holiday also received its own symbol – the pomegranate. It is the king of fruits, a symbol of eternal life, rebirth, sun, harvest, beauty, energy and unity. It existed among the ancient Greeks, Phoenicians, Persians, and Armenians. This positive symbol can be found in myths, and world religions also value it. A pomegranate is a set of grains united under a hard shell, and it provides an amazing example of the unity of the plural in one whole, which symbolises the possibility of inner harmony, integrity, and most importantly, harmony.
After the guests‘ greetings and words of support for the holiday, Mahmoud Salem (Libya), a student of Alfred Nobel University, and Konstantin Kovalishin, Vice President of the Ukrainian Students’ Association, read out an appeal to the UN, and students from Europe, Asia, Africa, and America signed and supported the appeal to the UN on the occasion of the Day of Unity of Students in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa. The celebrations ended with the breaking of a loaf of bread, a good tradition that symbolises involvement in a common cause, initiative and achievement.

Things that can unite a lot: dance rhythms, rhythms of life, love of art. That is why the alley of the Alfred Nobel Planet memorial and park complex hosted an exhibition of paintings by artist Tatiana Drobakhina called Touch.
Throughout the day, presentations were held at the Alfred Nobel Planet memorial and park complex: diasporas and communities presented national cultures to students and guests of the Unity Day and treated them to national bread. Everyone had the opportunity to explore the bread map of Dnipro and the world.
U*Step flash mob
A large-scale dance flash mob ‘U*Step’ (Unification step) was held on the Dnipro embankment near Alfred Nobel University to celebrate the Day of Unification of Students from Europe, America, Asia and Africa, which was attended by guests of the holiday and more than 1,000 students studying in Dnipro.
Under the guidance of Iryna Prilous, artistic director of the Mix folk sports and pop dance group and the flash mob’s presenter, the young people recreated the most recognisable dance moves from different cultures and continents. The flash mob consisted of 4 parts and left no one indifferent due to the incendiary rhythms. Dancing that can unite is not an easy task, so the students were assisted by the masters of the Sturm Children’s and Youth Commercial Extracurricular Educational Institution.
The flash mob highlighted the international composition of Dnipro students. Dancing together is a lot of fun, so the students passed the dance baton from Dnipro to students from other countries, namely:
-
Rzeszow University (Republic of Poland)
-
University of Bamberg (Germany)
-
University of Centro Paulo Sousa (Brazil)
-
Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (China)
