Grading system

The assessment of students’ knowledge is carried out on a 100-point scale.

ECTS Grading Scale  Alfred Nobel University Grading Scale  National (Four-Point) Grading Scale
А 90-100 5 (excellent)
B 82-89 4 (very good)
C 75-81 4 (good)
D 67-74 3 (satisfactory)
E 60-66 3 (acceptable)
FX 35-59 2 (unsatisfactory)*
F 1-34 2 (unsatisfactory)**

*FX – additional work required before taking the exam or credit in the additional examination session.

The dates for the additional examination session are set by an official order.
**F – mandatory re-study of the course.

For courses with a pass/fail assessment, marks are assigned within the 100-point range. Your main goal throughout the semester is to score as many points as possible.

If the final form of assessment is an exam, the total grade is composed of:

Continuous assessment – 60 points, which you score during the semester.

  • Final assessment (exam) – 40 points.

  • Only students who scored at least 36 points throughout the semester are eligible to take the exam.

    – If a student scores between 0 and 24 points on the exam, the overall grade will be unsatisfactory, regardless of other results.
    – To obtain a passing grade for the semester, students need a minimum of 24 points on the exam.

The re-sitting of an exam after an FX grade is evaluated as:

  • – 24 points – if the exam is passed
  • – 0 points – if the exam is failed

If a student’s final grade is unsatisfactory (1–59 points), the course has to be retaken in the additional examination session.

Failure to resolve the academic deficiency during this period will require the student to repeat the course.

If the full academic curriculum for the year is not completed, the student is required to retake it.

Organisation of the educational process

At Alfred Nobel University, the academic year consists of two semesters. During each semester, additional midterm assessments are conducted to evaluate the students’ knowledge, and the semester concludes with an examination session.

University classes include lectures, seminars, practical sessions, discussions and individual projects. Lecturers and professionals from various industries are regular guests at Alfred Nobel University, offering not only theoretical insights but also internships at their companies.

What to do if you have to miss a class?

You are required to inform the head of the department or your lecturers. If your absence is due to illness, you should provide a medical certificate.

Where to find the class schedule?

You can find the class schedule on the official university website at https:/stud.duan.edu.ua.

!IMPORTANT! Be sure to carefully monitor any changes to the class schedule, especially during the first few weeks.

Where to get the access card and student ID?

Usually, the processing of the student ID and access card takes about two weeks. Once they are ready, the head of your department will inform you. You can collect them from the Student Office.

Elective course selection

There is a system of elective courses from the first year of study. This means that you can select a course you wish to study. It may not be related to your main field, allowing you to shape your own educational journey.

You can also choose special courses designed to provide practical experience.

Elective courses change every year, so you will always have the chance to try something new.

The head of your department will notify you when it is time to choose the course. You can confirm your selection through your personal account on the official website.
