Magna Charta Universitatum 2020: response to future challenges

Borys Kholod, President and Founder of Alfred Nobel University, and Tamara Ishchenko, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, took part in the signing of Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 (MCU 2020).

The event was held online on June 16-17, 2021.

The Magna Charta Universitatum was first signed in 1988 and now the environment faced by universities has changed massively.

The world has changed and has become unpredictable since 1988 and the challenges faced by universities are much more complex.

After all, the universities themselves have had to change. Hence, after lengthy negotiations, a new version of Magna Charta Universitatum (MCU 2020) was prepared to be signed in the summer 2021.

The President of Alfred Nobel University together with the rectors of the world's leading universities signed the updated version of Magna Charta Universitatum (MCU 2020). Alfred Nobel University has become a part of global event and has joined the world's leading universities to strengthen its role in society for the next generation. 

The Magna Charta Universitatum, a declaration and affirmation of the fundamental principles upon which the mission of universities should be based, was signed in 1998 on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna. The signatory universities, including Alfred Nobel University, are committed to adhering to the Declaration and to promoting the values and the principles to strengthen the role of higher education institutions for sustainable development and prosperity throughout the world
