ANU Students Bridge Continents via COIL Project
The official Kick-off Meeting for the international COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project, initiated by the Department of Foreign Languages, has recently taken place, bringing together 35 ambitious students from three countries: Ukraine, France, and Brazil.
The project will run from March 2 to April 10, 2026. During this period, six multicultural teams will conduct joint research. The teams comprise students from:
- Alfred Nobel University (Ukraine);
- University of Applied Sciences Henri Poincaré (France);
- São Paulo State University (Brazil).
The collaboration focuses on addressing the pressing challenges of modern global management. Students are diving deep into the following topics:
- Leadership and staff motivation in the intercultural context.
- Specifics of recruitment and integration within global teams.
- Conflict resolution, inclusivity, and equity in international business.
- Work-life balance in global teams.
The COIL educational model transcends traditional learning boundaries. Beyond theoretical knowledge, participants develop critical soft skills, including cross-cultural communication, experience in international teamwork, and the practical use of advanced professional English terminology. As the organizers noted, the primary goal of the project is to build sustainable teams based on the principles of mutual understanding, diversity, and equity.
The kick-off meeting featured active networking sessions:
- Ice-breaking session: Students discovered shared interests and discussed curious legal aspects of different countries.
- Team building: Participants formed their teams, assigned roles, and conducted their first brainstorming session.
- Digital interaction: Participants are already actively communicating on the Padlet platform, presenting their professional introductory profiles.
Initial survey results indicate a high level of student motivation. Ahead lie weeks of synchronous and asynchronous work, which will serve as a foundation for preparing future global leaders.
We wish our students inspiration and great success in implementing thisinternational project!
