The Department trains specialists in the international economics and teaches courses for students of other fields of study. That is why it is both a special and university wide department.

The department of International Economics and Economic Theory is headed by Doctor of Economics, Professor, Merited Educator of Ukraine Anatolii Zadoia. He teaches the following courses:

  • Microeconomics;
  • Macroeconomics;
  • International economy;
  • International economic activity.

The teaching staff of the department includes

  • 3 Professors, Doctors of Sciences
  • 6 Associate Professors, Candidates of Sciences;
  • 1 Senior lecturer.

The Department was the first one, which began to adopt tests and other forms of students learning activity in a wide scale. The tests in microeconomics, macroeconomics, economic theory, history of economy and economic thought, and a lot of other courses were published by the Department’s teachers. Nowadays the Department publishes 4-5 textbooks in English every year.

Total number of the students
Now total number of the students, who are studying “International economy”, is 300. There are full-time (about 200) and part-time students (about 100). The number of foreign students is equal to 30 and it increases every year.

Methods of teaching
Highly-qualified and experienced personnel work with students. Among them are doctors and candidates of science, specialists from enterprises, who are responsible for international activity. Foreign teachers often deliver lectures for our students.
Teaching process is carried out according to the curricular programmes, which correspond to modern world standards. It is conducted in the classrooms with modern equipments. The teachers use multimedia equipment at the lectures. Each student has the opportunity to take electronic course textbooks. Discussion sessions and practical lessons are carried out with using case-studies, and the imitation teaching methods. Discussing the students’ reports is used at the classes.
Our students have wide opportunities of using library, Internet and modern software programs. This enables the training of competitive specialists.
Computer testing is used for the ongoing, module and final examinations.
Our students have the opportunity to undertake internships at enterprises dealing with international trade. Some of our students do practical training at foreign enterprises (in particular, in Poland).
Graduates of the bachelor’s programme have three state exams: economic theory (which includes the following courses – political economy, microeconomics, macroeconomics, history of economy and economic thought), foreign language, and a special exam (which includes following courses – international economy, international finance, international marketing and international economic activity of Ukraine).
Every year the Department holds two International scientific and practical conferences for young scientists and students (in March and in December). It is called “Eurointegration choice of Ukraine and problems of macroeconomics”.

Collaboration of Department with several organizations
The Department has very close contacts with both domestic and foreign organizations in the area of international economy. There are enterprises, which have very active foreign market possessions or have foreign founders. These are in particular firms “Nasha Riaba”, “Mushketer”, “Interpipe”, Dnipro Chamber of Commerce and Industry and others. The Department collaborates with Honorary Consulate of Turkey in Dnipro, General Consulate of Poland in Kharkov, Alliance Française and other international organizations, which work in Ukraine.
Alfred Nobel University and the Department of International Economic Relations and Economic Theory collaborate with foreign universities. We have the signed agreements with University of Rzeszów, Polytechnic University Rzeszów (Poland), Kuban State Agricultural University, South-West State University, North Caucasus Institute of Modern Information Technology and Business, Twer State University (Russia), and Belarusian Trade and Economics University of Consumer Cooperatives (Belarus).
In 2010 the Department and University of Wales (Great Britain) started to implement a new teaching project. The participants of this project are studying all courses in the English and after graduating from the University will hold two diplomas: Ukrainian and British.

Description of the field of training and employment prospects
Graduates in international economics are specialists in the fields of the international trade and monetary relationships, international investment market. Learning the complex of the courses, which focus on the international aspects, guarantees training of specialists, who are ready to implement the international trade, marketing, investment, financial, accounting, auditing, and insurance activities. 
The fundamental economic training, which is combined with the advanced learning of two or three foreign languages, gives the graduates in international economics opportunities both to hold the positions in the economic field and to work as teachers. Excellent students have the Language qualification certificates.
The first year students have an opportunity to choose the training language: Ukrainian or English. Defence of a diploma paper in English is normative. 

Our graduates have the opportunity to work:

  • in international and investment departments of the banks;
  • for joint venture and foreign companies;
  • for insurance companies;
  • in departments of international activity;
  • for government institutions;
  • for subsidiaries of the Ukrainian enterprises abroad.

The Department was founded in 1993. That time it united all teachers, who worked with first year students, especially those who specialize in foreign languages. In 1996 with the foundation of other departments, the Department of International Economic Relations and Economic Theory began teaching basic economic knowledge for students of economic and non-economic fields of study .

In 2003 the department began to train specialists in international economics. That is why it was renamed to the Department of International Economic Relations and Economic Theory.

In 2010 English programme in international management was validated by the University of Wales. In the first year 24 students enrolled to this programme. The participants of this programme have theoretical knowledge and practical skills both in the special courses and English.

In 2014 the first participants become holders of two diplomas: Ukrainian and British.

The analysis of the adapted mechanism of the Ukrainian economic policy to the modern process of globalization and substantiation of practical recommendations for using it on the level of enterprises, districts, national and world economy is the primary objective of research.

We are planning to solve the following problems:

  • Analysis of the non-market components in the market mechanism of the economic self regulation on the micro- and macro-levels;
  • Substantiation of the using institutional approaches to the planning of  territorial development;
  • Examination of the risks system in foreign economic activity of Ukraine and substantiation of the ways of their minimization;
  • Finding the special aspects of the cyclic development in the several groups of the countries and development of the forecast model.

We investigated the following problems:

  • Aggregate demand and economic dynamics (prof. A. Zadoia);
  • Institutional factors of the economic systems transformation (prof. S. Kuzminov); 
  • Growth of the national economy: indicators, factors, and evaluation (A.P. G. Gluha);
  • Stages of development and prospects of the restructuring of the world currency system (A.P. Y. Khvatov);
  • Social capital and behavior economy: interrelations and structure (A.P. Y. Diadko);
  • Cyclic fluctuations and economic crises (A.P. A. Magdich);
  • Macroeconomic regulation of MNC’s activity (S.L. E. Lymonova).
